Before we start looking for a software, documentation, or knowledge management solution, we first familiarize ourself with the current situation. All of our work is guided by four questions:
- What is really needed, both in the short term and in the longer term?
- Which prerequisites apply when realising a solution?
- What is already available if you really look?
- How can we realise the desired solution as painlessly as possible, keeping cost and effort to an absolute minimum?
Before we can start thinking about solutions, everyone involved has to be clear about what the current situation is and what an ideal situation would be. You do not need to have a solution that you want implementing, or even have any idea of how to tackle the problem. Together we begin by working out where you are now and where you want to go.
To help you determine various aspects of the current and desired situation, we have put together the checklists below.
Once the problem is completely clear, we propose a way of getting from where you are to where you want to be. The proposed solution could involve writing a user guide, or providing procedures on paper on an intranet, or automating parts of the documentation workflow, or improving the system documentation. Whatever it is, we consider it together with you. Then, a simple and understandable contract is signed which details the scope of the co-operation, what you will get from it and what it will cost you. A maintenance and support period of 3 months is always included. |
